Start.

Scratches/swirls are bcoming evident.

Lot's of swirls and scratches. (zoomed)

This is an uncommon level of scratch/swirl. I surmise that this is somewhere around a 400-800 grit depth of scratching.

Coming back to life. Protective tape has been partially removed, after extensive polishing.

Lights don't lie. Excessively deep scratches remain. This is after compound/pre fine polish. Approx depth of removal : 5 microns
Usual depth of removal? .5 to 1.5 microns

Polish has been applied and results are extraordinary, heavy scratches withstanding.
Sshot is magnified 6X.

Wheel is now clean inside/out. 4 wheels and wheelwells took 1.25 hours to clean.
Insides had never been cleaned, apparently.

Lots of tiny paint chipping.

Gadzooks. I hadn't encountered a black clear before with this volume of deep swirls/scratches.
I spoke with the owner while this detail was in progress, complete with halogen lights to highlight my concerns.
It was rationally considered to leave the worst of the scratches
and finely polish as deeply as possible with a 1 work day time constraint.
The results are wonderful. The sultry black pervades the senses.
